         Orange Peel Gojju

Kittale hannu sippe/Orange Peel gojju tastes sour, tangy, spicy and sweet. It tastes great with rice or ragi balls. You can also prepare tasty orange peel chutney too which goes well with dosa or chapati.

Orange peelings are usually discarded to the waste box. But many of us do not know that this discard contains many nutritional benefits. Orange peels has highest concentration of calcium and vitamin C.

How to dry Orange Peel at Home
Lay the orange peel strips skin-side down on a plate and let them dry at room temperature for 3-4 days, until they have shriveled and are no longer moist. Store the dried peel in a dark place, in a clean jar. To use, either crumble it or whirl it in a blender.

Ingredients:

Dried Orange Peel Powder: 1 and 1/2 tbsp

Powdered Jaggery : 2 tbsp

Tamarind juice : 1-1/4 tbsp

Gojju powder or rasam powder : 2 tbsp

Grated coconut : 1 tbsp

Salt to taste

Oil: 1 tbsp

Asafoetida - Pinch

Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp

Turmeric - 1 tsp

Curry Leaves - 1 strand

Methi Seeds - 1 tsp

Procedure:

1. Grind grated coconut with Gojju powder or rasam powder to a fine paste.

2. Heat the Oil in a pan, add Mustard seeds, once it splutters, add turmeric, asafoetida, Curry leaves,methi seeds, Masala paste (step 1), tamarind juice, Jaggery, orange peel powder and Salt to taste. Add little water and mix well. Let it boil for 5 mins.

Orange Peel Gojju/Sauce is ready to serve with Rice, Dosa ,Chapathi or ragi balls.
